have not seen the config not surviving a reboot but will give it another try. The other part I can’t comment on unfortunately since I don’t know.

Thanks for this post. It helped me with getting the sfcbd-watchdog service started, although for some reason it’s not surviving a host reboot even with the –enable command. In the ESXi Web UI, I have the service flagged to start and stop with the host.

Secondary issue is I’m running my ESXi hosts as virtual machines under VMware Workstation 15. This is a lab environment for training, and we’re upgrading from ESXi 5.5 to ESXi 6.7. In our ESXi 5.5 lab, which had the ESXi VM’s running under VMware Workstation 14, the WIndows VSphere Client would display Hardware Sensor Data for the virtualized ESXi hosts.

Unfortunately, in the newly built ESXi 6.7 VM’s running under VMware Workstation 15, the ESXi Web UI under “Monitor” –> “Hardware” –> “System Sensors” I’m seeing the following error:
This system has no IPMI capabilities, you may need to install a driver to enable sensor data to be retrieved.

Is there some sort of driver I need to install on the virtualized ESXi 6.7 hosts to enable hardware monitoring? I don’t recall having to do this in the 5.5 setup.

Had the same issue w/ 6.7.0 Build 11675023. Executed: esxcli system wbem set –enable true , and it came up. THANKS!!!

Yes the command does not works in ESXi 6 and post reboot everytime we have to restart CIM server service manually inspite of choosing it to stop & start during Host reboot option.

Hence, now only cron job will be the alternate option but, please help me with scripting cron job to sfcbd-watchdog start command

CIM Server sfcbd-watchdog service does not automatically starts on ESXi 6. Is there any similar commands for the same.

Following command does not works in 6.0

esxcli system wbem set –enable true (two minus signs before enable)

Tried following command to make this change persistent on reboot but, after every reboot the CIM server service is not started automatically inspite of selecting start & stop with Host reboot.

chkconfig sfcbd-watchdog on

chkconfig sfcbd on

sfcbd-watchdog start
