Hi All,

I got this new cli to get ESXi installation date in one shot.
echo -n “ESXi install date: ” ; date -d @$(printf “%d” 0x$(esxcli system uuid get | cut -d \- -f1 ))

I wrote PowerCLi function ‘Get-VMHostBirthday’ and included it in my Vi-Module on Github.

Awesome! The ‘esxcli system uuid get’ return different!!! UUID, than PowerCLi’s ‘(Get-VMHost [hostname] |Get-View).Hardware.SystemInfo.Uuid’.

This is my PowerCLi code:
$esxcli = Get-EsxCli -VMHost ‘[hostname]’
$esxcli.system.uuid.get()

This one returned me right Uuid.

I checked some of my ESXi and received very weird results: 08fd3d24 (1974 year) and 7b685e7e (2035 year). Doesn’t weird ?

This can also be gathered with powercli with the below code if you want to go that route

(get-view -viobject [hostname]).hardware.systeminfo.uuid

You are welcome. Can you update it with “get” at the end of the command?
i.e.:
esxcli system uuid get
