@JulesW execute “esxcli software vib remove –vibname ucs-tool-esxi”. Then, rescan host with Update Manager.

ucs-tool-esxi v1.0.2 will be deployed with 6.7 build.

Hi magander3 and thanks for this helpful article.
I’m attempting to update from esxi 6 to 6.7 on Dell PE730 using the vmware ISO install disk as VUM was giving permission errors.
My error is similar but slightly different. it’s missing_dependency_VIBS ERROR. Found=[Cisco_Systems_Inc_bootbank_usc-tool-esxi_1.0.1-1OEM. These vibs on the host are missing dependency if you continue to upgrade. Remove these vibs before upgrade or use Image Builder. So I’m confused if I should remove the vib or find the dependency. . Apparently the usc tool enables the ease of validation of usc hcl matrix. I run the following command, with output below. I remove the usc-tool? Not sure why this Cisco tool is installed in the first place……..Thanks so much!

Perhaps you can help me with this: I usually apply the latest patches and bugfixes on my ESXI hosts from the vmware patch portal using the following:

esxcli software vib install -d /vmfs/volumes/wherever/ESXi670-201901001.zip (and normally works fine…never had an issue)

However, my customer used the latest hpe image to install esxi on their server: HPE Custom Image for ESXi 6.7U1

Now when I try to run the above command I have VIB_bootbank_qedrnt dependency errors. Am I able to apply the bugfixes with the same commands you used above? (esxcli software profile update -d ….)

Thanks! That sounds really helpful. Haven’t tried it yet because I downloaded the latest 6.5 update from VMware ESXi650-201811002.zip and the list command lists 4 names:
