D:Program FilesVMwareInfrastructureVirtualCenter Serverextensions

I just removed all the obsolete directories i.e. old plugin versions.

Good question:) It was a customer choice and not my decision. As you said, guess it would have been good enough to just restore the file.

not at all a silly question at all. We (me and VMware support) actually looked through a lot of configuration files and found this issue.

Thanks for the article. How did come to know or did you check any log file that stated that it is this proxy file which is missing and causing the issue.

How did you come to conclusion that it is the proxy file that needs to be restored.

During the reinstallation we could connect to the old database meaning the config/perf data was still present. That’s at least one good thing:)
