Gave SRM another install try on 2012 with UAC disabled and unfortunately did not work, we have given up with installing on 2012 and have gone same route as Patrik and deployed some 2008 R2 Servers.

Since 2008 R2 is going to be supported till 2020 from MS and am sure we will see Appliance devices for SRM within 18 months should cover us.

From my perspective UAC should always be turned off for any type off server except terminal servers. It only creates issues and does not bring any extra security to the system when users are not logged on. Best way to do this is by GPO.

Hi Andrew,
sounds like a good idea. Have seen similar indications. Let me know how it goes.
Thanks

We're migrating to vSphere to 5.5 at the moment from a 5.0 and rather than in place upgrade doing a fresh install and detach/reattach Hosts and have had the exact same issues with SRM & Windows 2012, initially thought MS SQL issues on our central MS SQL Server but also tried SQL Express edition and ran into the same symptoms each time. Has been very frustrating, wasted 2 days on SRM install already. :-(

From some googling am wondering if its something to do with UAC, planning on deactivating and giving that a shot.
