Yesterday, 2017-07-18, Nutanix released a new version of the Acropolis Operating System (AOS) meaning the latest and greatest version available is 5.1.1.1. And yes it’s a minor release but I know at least some of my customers will benefit from the new announcements such as:
- Support for vSphere ESXi 6.5 and 6.5a including
- Dell XC Series platforms
- Legacy platforms with 16GB SATA DOM
- Support for vCenter Server 6.5
- Software-Only Support on Cisco UCS B-Series Blade Servers
- Software-Only Support on HPE ProLiant Servers – make sure to use Nutanix Foundation 3.9 which you can find here when deploying HPE servers.
- Check out the HPE® Hardware & Firmware Compatibility
- manage_ovs tool has been updated to support Mellanox 40G NICs
- Fixed underlaying case for the error “Cannot import an uploaded VMDK without the backing extents” which could be seen in PRISM
Tech Preview – Do not use in production systems
- Nutanix API v3 Tech Preview
And as usual, if you upgrade to AOS 5.1 from AOS 4.7.x or 5.0.x and running vSphere make sure to check out the Nutanix Knowledge Base article 4332
AOS 5.1.1.1 can be downloaded here and the release notes can be found here.
All in all, pretty good for a DotDotDot release.
