- Virtualisation background: vSphere 4.0 to 6.0, with just over 6 years in the virtualisation space.
- Storage Background: IBM DS8800, IBM SVC, IBM Storwize V7000, HDS USP-100, EMC Symmetrix VMAX20K & XtremeIO, with just over 6 years in the storage space.
- Hyper Converged Infrastructure background: Nutanix XCP and VMware VSAN
- Future of HCI and other emerging technologies: It is the future of the modern data center and legacy, 3-tier infrastructure will slowly be phased out. If you have any kind of major infrastructure replacement or revamp, make sure you consider HCI (all vendors) as a possible path. To ignore it would be negligent.
- Value of NPX: Enterprise Architects need to deliver the most simple and elegant solutions to meet the business requirements of the customer, whilst minimising risk. NPX validates just that.
- What made you go for NPX: I want to be the best that I can be and when Mark Brunstad moved to Nutanix, I knew that the next generation of Infrastructure Architecture Design excellence was coming and I had to be a part of it.
- Advise to people looking into the NPX track: Having experienced NPX and VCDX, it takes about three times the effort of VCDX to succeed with NPX. Give yourself time to become familiar with the Nutanix XCP Platform and the dual hypervisor mastery. Nutanix also has a very aggressive release cycle of goodness, so be prepared to keep up.
- Other: Start with the Community Edition (Ravello Systems or Download) and grow from there. Acropolis will change the way you view service delivery (and they are just starting!).
