So today, 2017-04-30, Nutanix has released a new version of Acropolis Operating System (AOS) formerly known as Nutanix Operating System (NOS) meaning the most recent version is 5.1.
There are plenty of enhancements, new features and bug fixes including in this version.
I have quite a few customers who have been waiting for Nutanix to support VMware vSphere 6.5 and that is one of the things included in the 5.1 release which is very good. Other very useful features included in the release includes e.g.:
- One Click Controller Virtual Machine (CVM) memory upgrade
- XenServer Support on the following platforms:
- NX-1065-G5
- NX-3060-G5
- NX-3175-G5 / NX-3175-G5 with NVIDIA M60
- Nutanix now allows mixing of all-flash (AF) and hybrid SSD/HDD nodes in the same cluster
- Requires min 2 AF nodes in the cluster.
- One-Click Prism Central Cluster Registration and Prism Central Deployment
- One-Click Prism Central Cluster Registration and Prism Central Deployment
- AHV Hot Plugging Memory and CPU on Virtual Machines
- Post-process compression is enabled by default on all newly-created containers clusters with Pro and Ultimate licenses
- Compression slice size reduced from 64KB to 32KB
- Enhancements to Erasure Coding X (EC-X)
- As mentioned above, vSphere 6.5 support
And the above are just a few things I think many customers will find very useful. See the full release notes for all products in the section below.
