Two days ago, 2020-12-15, Nutanix released a new short term support, STS, release of AOS meaning the latest STS is now 5.19. Read more about difference between LTS & STS (Short Term Support) here. In addition Prism Central, PC, pc.2020.11 and AHV version 20201105.12 have also been released.
There are a lot of new functionality, enhancements to existing features included in these releases and below are some of them
- Live vDisk Migration Across Storage Containers using acli
- Cross cluster live migration with Leap – Zero RPO and RTO meaning true disaster avoidance
- Migrate VM Within Cluster or Outside Cluster
- Multi-Site Replication with Leap
- License Manager does no longer has a dependency on AOS, PC and so on. Can be upgraded via LCM.
- Native Key Manager Support for ROBO Clusters
- Storage Capacity Widget Reporting Enhancement
- Support for Multiple Remote Syslog Servers meaning you get a chance to split up targets for standard logs and security events.
- Windows Defender Credential Guard Support in AHV
- CREATE & MANAGE uplinks and bridges via the UI.
- Autopilot for Playbooks
- Dynamic Oplog Sizing – Available for All Flash clusters with AES.
- You will get an estimated time for First Replication Instance to the recovery site.
Flow Networking is a new feature which is currently in Tech Preview meaning, Do Not Use In Production Systems. It provides many features such as:
- Multi-tenancy isolation via Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) based network segmentation and namespaces.
- Application/departmental isolation
- VPN-based seamless connectivity across multiple sites with an automated VPN lifecycle.
- IP Address retention and policy based routing for stretched subnets. NAT-based secure egress to networks external to a VPC.
- Self-service networking services for applications through REST APIs.
