Two days ago, 2019-01-30, Nutanix released their latest version, 2.6, of Nutanix Calm which is the built-in automation and orchestration tool available in Nutanix Prism Central.
Calm, as I guess you already know, supports application life cycle management, monitoring & remediation and can provision virtual machines and deploy applications to multiple target platforms such as:
- Nutanix AHV
- VMware ESXi running on both Nutanix and non-Nutanix environments
- Microsoft Azure
- AWS
- Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
Apart from bug fixes there are two really awesome new features in Calm 2.6:
- Nutanix Playground – This will give you a chance to edit, test and reviewing output of your Service Tasks without having to launch the Blueprint. Will save a ton of testing time. Playground is supported for the following Tasks type:
- Execute – including:
- Shell
- Powershell
- eScript
- HTTP Task
- Execute – including:
- HTTP Task – now you don’t need to create Calm eScript to run HTTP REST operations. In the Service Task Type section you can now select HTTP Task to perform the below operations with either No Auth or Basic Auth:
- GET
- DELETE
- POST
- PUT
In addition to these two major features there has also been an update to the Jenkins plugin and now you can pass jenkins variable in Calm runtime variables and use Calm service IP as a jenkins environment variable
