vRealize Automation & vRealize Orchestrator 7.1 released

Yesterday, 2016-08-23, VMware released vRealize Automation (vRA) 7.1 formerly known as vCloud Automation Center (vCAC) and vRealize Orchestrator (vRO) 7.1 formerly known as venter Orchestrator (vCO).. There are quite a lot of improvements in this release and here are few of them:

  • I know a lot of customer who have been waiting for a tool that gives you the ability to migrate from vRA 6.2.x to vRA 7.x and now it’s here. The source environment will be preserved so i guess there will be some migration activities coming up in the next few months – Good stuff.
  • Another good enhancement  is the out of the box integration with Infoblox IP Address Management (IPAM) system. More IPAM vendors will be added later. I haven’t tried this integration myself but quite a lot of projects i have been involved in requires IPAM integration and Infoblox is a common solution so this looks/sounds promising.
  • The silent installer might come in handy from time to time
  • The ability to manually scale out and also scale in the vRA deployment is something i need to test.

The vRA 7.1 software can be downloaded here and the documentation is available here. If you want to read about all new enhancements and fixes included in vRA 7.1 you’ll find the release notes here.

In addition to vRA, vRealize Orchestrator (vRO) Appliance 7.1 was also released and it includes plugin improvements, vRO infrastructure managing & monitoring improvements which are really good and a few bug fixes.

vRO 7.1 can be downloaded here and the release notes can be found here.
