AHV 8.0 – AHV-20220304.242 Released

Think this is the first time ever i write about an AHV release independently from AOS but here we go, today, 2022-09-29, Nutanix released AHV version 8.0 aka AHV-20220304.242. The release is compatible with AOS 6.5.1 which you can read more about here

AHV 8.0 brings the following new & or updated features:

  • Windows 11 Guest OS support with the following min requirements:
    • Secure boot enabled
    • VirtIO 1.2.1 drivers
    • UEFI
    • Virtual Trusted Platform Module (vTPM)
  • Windows Subsystem for Linux WSL2 support
  • Virtual Trusted Platform Module (vTPM) support for AHV VMs which is software based emulation of the physical TPM 2.0 chip that works as a virtual device.

In addition to the AHV release, Nutanix also released a dot dot version of the VirtIO driver meaning the latest and greatest version is now 1.2.1 It comes with the following improvements:

  • Qualified for Windows 11.
  • Nutanix VirtIO drivers are Windows Hardware Quality Lab (WHQL) certified.
  • Drivers for 64-bit architecture are now placed into x64 folders instead of amd64.
  • Nutanix is no longer including these unused drivers: viorng and vioser.
