Think this is the first time ever i write about an AHV release independently from AOS but here we go, today, 2022-09-29, Nutanix released AHV version 8.0 aka AHV-20220304.242. The release is compatible with AOS 6.5.1 which you can read more about here
AHV 8.0 brings the following new & or updated features:
- Windows 11 Guest OS support with the following min requirements:
- Secure boot enabled
- VirtIO 1.2.1 drivers
- UEFI
- Virtual Trusted Platform Module (vTPM)
- Windows Subsystem for Linux WSL2 support
- Virtual Trusted Platform Module (vTPM) support for AHV VMs which is software based emulation of the physical TPM 2.0 chip that works as a virtual device.
In addition to the AHV release, Nutanix also released a dot dot version of the VirtIO driver meaning the latest and greatest version is now 1.2.1 It comes with the following improvements:
- Qualified for Windows 11.
- Nutanix VirtIO drivers are Windows Hardware Quality Lab (WHQL) certified.
- Drivers for 64-bit architecture are now placed into x64 folders instead of amd64.
- Nutanix is no longer including these unused drivers: viorng and vioser.
