Today i ran into a problem during a vCloud Automation Center 6.0 IaaS component installation. The installation didn’t actually start, just got an error mesage after finishing the initial wizard meaning no component is installed.
We used the Complete instllation option because this was a proof of concept environment and we didn’t see any reason for divide the IaaS components on different servers.
One of the prerequisites before you can perform the installation is to install Microsoft .Net Framework 4.5.
My customer was running Windows Server 2008 R2 with .Net Framework 4.5.1 and the installation didn’t accept this version and the installation failed immediately.
To solve the problem we had to:
- Uninstall .Net Framework 4.5.1
- Install .Net Framework 4.5
After that, the installation completed successfully.
Has anyone completed the IaaS installation when using .Net Framework 4.5.1 i would be happy to receive some information.
I’ll update the blog post when i find a solution or a public statement from VMware.

[…] Important: when running Windows Update you will probably automatically install Microsoft .NET 4.5.1 on the Windows server. I faced some problems, that were not directly traceable: after removing .NET 4.5.1 and installing .NET 4.5 the problems disappeared. Note that prerequisite checker that is included in the installation process will not report any messages on this, although the installation will fail. .NET 4.5 is available here. This problem was also reported by Magnus Anderson at vcdx56.com. […]
