NDB – PostgreSQL Database Operating System User

To manage a PostgreSQL database (DB) with Nutanix Database Service (NDB) there is a requirement to have two operating system users:
  1. NDB Drive User. Used for NDB operations locally on the DB Server VM and connection between NDB and the DB VM. In many cases this user is called ndb but it’s up to the customer to decide
  2. Database OS User. In many cases this user is called postgres but it’s up to the customer to decide.

For a long the the database OS user had to be postgres when using NDB but since a few versions back you can define the user name when you register the virtual machine from which you create the NDB Software Profile.

In the “Register Database Server VM” workflow define the name in the textbox”Database OS User” as per below figure.

There is no option to change either of the NDB Drive User or Database OS User during the Softare Profile creation or DB Provisioning workflows.When you create
