Nutanix Database Service (NDB) 2.5.1

About two months ago Nutanix Database Server (NDB) version 2.5 was release which you can read more about here. Today, 2022-12-06, version 2.5.1 has been made available and it comes with some pretty good new capabilities.

  • RHEL 8.6 Version Support for:
    • Oracle 19c (19.16.0.x and 19.17.0.x)
    • PostgreSQL versions 10 through 14.
      ————————————————————————————————————————————–
Important: For RHEL version 8 and above, NDB requires the NetworkManager-initscripts-updown package to be installed on the database server VM. You can install this package, for example, by using the command:
      dnf install NetworkManager-initscripts-updown
      ————————————————————————————————————————————–
  • Externally Accessible API for Password Management – After changing the password for the NDB DB Server VM operating system user, typically called era for Linux based DB Server VMs, you can now call an API to update NDB metadata.
  • Qualification of the below five PostgreSQL Extensions meaning:
    • TimescaleDB
    • pgAudit
    • pg_cron
    • set_user
    • PostGIS
  • Support for Private and or Public key rotation at the DB Server VM operating system level
  • Oracle PDB Storage Definition Feature. With NDB 2.5 the capability to define compute parameters (CPU & Memory) was added and not Storage can be added to the list of PDB config options.
