A few days ago i was trying to run a vCenter Orchestrator (vCO) 5.5.1 built in workflow and received the following error:
This error tells you that the workflow didn’t pass the validation check before running and that’s why you can’t run the workflow. The workflow would not have pass the validation process when you save the workflow either but i couldn’t edit the workflow since the “Edit” option wasn’t available.
I wanted to run the workflow so i just disabled (uncheck the checkbox) next to the “Validate a workflow before running it” configuration option which can be found via the User Preferences option in the vCenter Orchestrator Tools menu.
  
This might not be a good configuration for a production environment but for my test environment i can live with this setting….
