Vembu just released Vembu BDR Suite v3.7.0 and it comes with quite a few enhancements including e.g.:
- Multitenancy for both Vembu BDR and Vembu OffsiteDR servers. Good enhancement for e.g. service providers and based on role based access control the separate customers can manage and monitor their backup jobs.
- New backend database. PostgreSQL has replaced MongoDB and MySQL and this will increase performance.
- Faster User Interface (UI)
- Free Edition Support – Limited features but available after the 30 day trial period at no cost.

The Free Edition Support is something I think you should take a look at since it looks quite promising. The following are included in the free version:

- Hyper-V Backup using Vembu VMBackup
- Windows Servers Backup using Vembu ImageBackup
- Windows Workstations Backup using Vembu ImageBackup
- File Backup for Workstations using Vembu NetworkBackup
- File Backup for Workstations to cloud using Vembu OnlineBackup
As you see above it’s a pretty impressive list of components and features included in the free version. Obviously there are limitations so you can’t perform every action and configure all options in the free version. Based on your management, service level agreement (SLA), recovery point objective (RPO) and recovery time objective (RTO) requirements you can easily determine if the free version is something for you based on this “Free vs Paid edition” comparison.
