Yesterday, 2018-10-16, VMware released vSphere 6.7 U1 which includes updates for their two most famous products:
- ESXi
- vCenter Server
There are a lot of resolved issues in this release and some nice new features as well:
- New features that are relevant to quite a few of my existing customers are included in number 1-6 below:
- Move a vCenter Server with an Embedded Platform Services Controller between vSPhere domains and e.g. the licensing and tagging will remain.
- vMotion virtual machines with NVIDIA virtual GPU. Pretty nice and it obviously requires a compatible NVIDIA card at the target ESXi hostTesla GPUs
- Template VMs & Open Virtual Appliance (OVA) images are supported in the content library
- vCenter Server Appliance Management (VAMI) can be used to manage firewall settings for the vCSA
- Windows 2016 Active Directory support for vCenter Server
- CLI available to convert vCSA with external platform service controller to embedded platform service controller.
- vMotion between on-prem systems and VMware Cloud on AWS
- Appdefense as integrated vCenter Server plugin.
- Resolved issues in e.g. the following areas:
- Client
- CIM and API
- Content Library
- Guest OS
- Installation
- Licensing
- Network
- Server Configuration
- Storage
- Upgrade
- VM Management
- vSAN
